每日下床第一步痛過被「針拮」

Have you ever experienced intense pain with your very first step out of bed? If you feel sharp pain in the arch of your foot every time you take that first step, you might have plantar fasciitis.

Causes

The main cause is excessive irritation of the plantar fascia. This can be due to prolonged walking, running, repetitive foot striking motions during exercise, or activities that repeatedly put stress on parts of the foot that shouldn't bear weight. Furthermore, as we age, the ligaments and tendons in the foot bones begin to degenerate, which only increases the burden on the plantar fascia. In addition, flat feet and high arches can also increase the risk of developing plantar fasciitis.

Symptoms

The common symptom is a "stabbing" pain as soon as the foot touches the ground. The pain is most severe upon waking in the morning or after a period of rest, as the tension in the foot's fascia is weaker during rest. When stepping on the ground again, the fascia is suddenly stretched, which can cause severe sharp pain in the heel. However, after walking a few steps, the pain may subside. Nevertheless, after prolonged standing, walking, and running, the pain will intensify again.

Impact

Every morning, you will take a "heart-wrenching" first step, and the pain will accompany you, making it difficult to move.

Ignoring plantar fasciitis for a long time can lead to various complications. Since severe pain can affect walking posture, such as inability to lift the toes or difficulty lifting the forefoot, it results in poor walking posture. This increases stress on other parts of the body, leading to various complications such as pain or discomfort in the feet, knees, hips, or back, and potentially chronic heel pain.

Prevention

Avoid wearing shoes with overly hard soles.

Foot massage to relieve plantar fascia.

Avoid prolonged standing or walking to prevent increased heel burden.

Wear insoles or heel pads to reduce foot burden.

Being overweight also increases heel burden.
