People have body shapes, feet have foot shapes.
We all want to pursue a perfect figure to make ourselves look radiant and charming. The prerequisite for having a perfect figure is to have beautiful leg shapes and a pair of beautiful legs. But do you really know your own legs? They actually have different "figures."

How to identify your leg type
Bow legs (O-type legs): When standing naturally, if the medial malleoli of your feet are close but there is a large gap between your knees, and your knees, calves, and even thighs are separated and cannot touch, it appears as an "O" shape from a distance. Also known as genu varum.
Knock knees (X-type legs): When standing naturally, if your knees are close but there is a large gap between your ankles, and your medial malleoli and calves are separated and cannot touch, it appears as an "X" shape from a distance. Also known as genu valgum.
XO-type legs: When standing naturally, if your knees and medial malleoli touch, but your tibias are separated and cannot touch, you might have XO-type legs.
Causes and impact of leg types
Bow legs (O-type legs): Posterior pelvic tilt + genu varum
The causes of bow legs are often due to posterior pelvic tilt and genu varum. Generally, physiological bow legs improve by 2-3 years of age. If bow legs appear later in life and persist, other pathological changes should be considered. Due to the imbalance in the position of the femur and tibia, pressure is easily concentrated on the outside of the knee, leading to knee pain or arthritis.
Knock knees (X-type legs) are more common in women. Due to injuries, muscle imbalance, incorrect sitting posture, etc., X-type legs can develop. The key cause is not the knees, but the "hip joint," which is due to stiffness in the adductor and internal rotator muscles on the inner thigh, and weakness in the gluteus maximus and medius. In addition, weak gluteal muscles can also lead to femoral rotation and internal toe-in walking, ultimately resulting in X-type legs.
XO-type legs: X-type legs + internal rotation of the tibia
XO-type legs combine the problems of both O-type and X-type legs, with more issues occurring in the knee and ankle joints. Therefore, the focus is more on correcting the angles of the knee and ankle joints, and stretching the inner thigh muscles. Thus, XO-type legs can be said to be X-type legs combined with internal rotation of the tibia.

Improvement methods
Maintain good posture: Avoid bad sitting postures such as crossing legs or kneeling. When walking, try to maintain a neutral spine, stand upright, and tuck in your abdomen.
Wear appropriate shoes and insoles: Suitable insoles and footwear can distribute pressure evenly on the feet and provide the necessary support, which is beneficial for correcting foot misalignment.
Stretching: Relaxing tight muscles is a great tool for restoring leg shape. Focus on stretching the hip flexor muscle group.
